Category: Messages from the Pastor
Hello there! I’m so glad you stopped by.
Are you looking for a church family — a place of connection with God and God’s people? We all need a place along our spiritual journey to be seen, to belong, to serve, and to grow deeper in love. Wherever you are in your spiritual journey, it is my desire that you experience the love of God by participating in worship or in a small group at Haw River UMC. There is a place for you here.
Come and celebrate God’s love with us.
About the Pastor
Pastor Laure Kalau Kavul, a Duke Divinity School graduate, joined the Haw River United Methodist Family in the Summer of 2016. Prior to that, Laure served as a part-time Associate Pastor at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Hurdle Mills, NC.
Laure is a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo where she was ordained an Elder in 2008. North Carolina has become her second home for the last seventeen years and she now serves as an Elder in Full Connection in the North Carolina Conference and is a naturalized citizen of the United States.
Laure loves God and all of God’s people. She sees her calling as one to help people live fully into who God created them to be. She is passionate about worship and working with people of all ages; serving God by serving God’s people while striving to make meaningful connections with everyone regardless of their status or circumstances; and more importantly, Pastor Laure loves to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that leads others towards love and justice for all.
Laure has been married to her husband Wellman for twenty years. They have three children: two junior high school students, William (15) and Malaika (13) and a college student, Andy. In her spare time, Laure likes to go hiking, reading, and enjoying good food and conversation with family and friends.
